Blockchain Tokens and Tokenization Explained
Beyond a network’s native asset, many blockchains support issued tokens representing fiat, commodities, or other assets depending on the issuer. Holders trust the issuer to honor redemptions off-chain when applicable.
Trust and approvals
You may need to approve a token contract or open a trust line before holding an issued currency, signaling exposure limits you accept. These designs limit spam tokens but do not eliminate issuer risk.
Tokenization use cases
Projects explore stable value transfer, treasury instruments, and market infrastructure on public chains. Evaluate each issuer’s disclosures, audits, and legal framework independently.
Summary
On-chain tokens are not automatically “safe” because they are fast or cheap to move. Issuer risk remains central.
